About

I’m Maleesha, a computer engineer who likes to understand software all the way down. I build systems and the infrastructure they run on, and I enjoy following the whole path a request takes: through the API, into the database, across the network and onto the machine underneath. What draws me in is the reasoning behind a system as much as the system itself: why a boundary sits where it does, what a design quietly trades away, and how it behaves when load, latency or bad data push against it. That curiosity keeps pulling me toward performance, networking and security, and more recently toward the infrastructure that serves large AI models. I treat engineering as a craft worth doing carefully, with clear interfaces, honest measurements and documentation someone else can actually follow.

This site is where I think out loud about that work: how things are built, why they hold up, and what I learn when they don’t.

When I’m not building, I’m usually reading about Linux internals, compilers or networking, or taking something apart to see how it works.

Education

  1. 2022 — 2026

B.Sc. Engineering (Hons) in Computer Engineering

University of Ruhuna · Faculty of Engineering

Computer Engineering specialisation in the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering. The programme runs the full depth of computing: from digital logic and computer architecture up through operating systems, networks and distributed software, which is where my habit of thinking about software from the hardware up comes from.

    • Software & systems: Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Software Architecture, Cloud Computing, High Performance Computing, Advanced Algorithms
    • Security & AI: Information Security, Cybersecurity and Blockchain, Advanced Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Image Processing
    • Hardware: Computer Architecture, Digital Logic Design, Embedded System Design, Integrated Circuit Design

    Software Development Engineer in Test

Xeptagon (Pvt) Ltd | Colombo, Sri Lanka

Worked on the engineering team behind two production web products, Domain Lookup and Auto-backorder, contributing across backend features, test automation and release documentation.

    • Built a concurrent-session limiting feature in NestJS using guards and JWT validation, resolved authorization defects, and refactored the session and authentication modules without breaking dependent modules.
    • Implemented audit logging across two modules, giving the team full traceability of user actions, and refactored the logic for readability before handover.
    • Designed an end-to-end API regression suite with Postman/Newman against a Dockerised PostgreSQL environment, covering submissions, scheduled jobs and bot workflows; the QA team adopted it as a standard testing tool.
